E Reo Noku Project
"E Reo Noku - My Language" is a project aimed at capturing the unique stories, history, culture and languages of 10 islands within the Cook Islands.
Many of these Islands have their own unique culture, and traditions that many Cook Islanders living abroad are unaware of. It is important to preserve these cultural traditions from the elders before this knowledge is lost.
Presenters and representatives were filmed in Porirua, Wellington, New Zealand during May 2022, creating a resource for the Te Reo Tupuna language class to learn from, and to capture traditional knowledge for future generations.
"E Reo Noku" has collaborated with Local Contexts and applied Traditional Knowledge Labels to these films. These are digital markers that define attribution, access, and usage rights for this film.
